After working in the software industry for over 5 years, I went to graduate school to study Human-Computer Interaction. I am now looking for a full-time position in interaction design, user experience, or product management.

  • Research Topics in HCI: Read and discussed important academic papers in HCI. My research project was an experiment in a controlled environment (phone usage while driving).
  • Design for Agile Aging: Looked at ways of keeping older adults mobile and in good health. Produced a video prototype showing how Internet video could connect older adults to their families and let them dance together.
  • Physical Interaction Design for Music: Explored the construction of physical devices for interaction with music. Programmed microcontrollers and assembled circuits on a breadboard.

  • Designed and implemented an application to view the health of the Amazon Kindle network. Wrote a Java back-end and JSP front-end. Results were displayed with Google Maps.

  • Led a team of 4 developers creating a new version of Web Access, a web-based client in ASP.NET.
  • Worked as part of small teams to develop client-side software. Functionality included records management and email support (Laserfiche Client), image processing components (Quick Fields), and a Word plug-in to generate city council agendas from XML (Agenda Manager).
  • Worked independently on small projects, including architecture, development, and installation. Products supported integration between Laserfiche and other systems.
  • Did user interface design work, such as needs analysis, user interviews, concept sketching, and functional prototyping.
  • Wrote technical documentation, including code samples for the Laserfiche Integrator's Toolkit and white papers.
  • Prepared and delivered presentations at annual end-user and reseller conferences.
